The Rotary Club of St. Marys, in partnership with Shred-It, held a Community Shredding Event on Saturday, May 4th. The event helped raise awareness about identity theft and reminded residents of the importance of securely destroying personal documents. Area residents brought over 2,580 lbs of unwanted paper documents which were securely shredded on-site. These securely shredded documents will be recycled into various paper products instead of ending up in the landfill.
Students from St. Marys DCVI helped Rotary with the event and earned a total of 14 volunteer hours. Members of the Rotary Club of St. Marys contributed an additional 45 volunteer hours.
The Rotary Club of St. Marys would like to thank St. Marys DCVI and the Avon-Maitland District School Board for the use of the parking lot at DCVI for the event. Additional thanks to the student volunteers and area residents for supporting the event.
